Q. How long have you been at Lucite International?
A. I joined the Company when it was known as ICI Acrylics in 1992.
Q. Describe working for the Company in three words
A. Stimulating, rewarding, enjoyable.
Q. What do you do in your role on a day to day basis?
A. I am responsible for all commercial, sales and supply chain aspects of the Monomers business in the EMEA region, so daily activities are quite varied, but can include visiting or speaking with customers, reviewing business financials and key performance indicators e.g. to set sales plans or pricing policy, working with colleagues in Asia or the Americas on global issues, thinking about new opportunities for the business or challenges that it is facing.
Q. What has your training and development been like?
A. Good and varied… I started life at the Cassel site in Billingham as a chemical engineer and have had the training and development opportunities to allow me to work in plant management, purchasing and now in commercial & supply chain, and also to work on various projects around the world. Some of the training has been specific to the roles, but latterly it has been about developing my capability with management and leadership qualities. Development opportunities have been very important; being given the opportunity to try something new, or to work in a different culture or country brings immeasurable opportunity to develop.
Q. How would you describe the work environment and Company culture?
A. Honest, respectful, professional and knowledgeable, and one where there is full commitment and positive challenges.
Q. What do you enjoy most about your role?
A. The diversity of the work on a daily basis and the requirement to think and act at one moment in real time and the next on some longer-term objectives.
